Seed starting has begun and the wonderful spring things are blooming! Right now the prettiness includes: cherry, peach, quince, daffodil, grape hyacinth, and even the first irises (in a protected spot). Yay spring!
Spring!
It felt like a long winter season, but spring is HERE! Woo Hoo!
We planted hundreds of daffodils on the farm last fall, and now we are reaping the rewards. Here’s a photo to share the beauty ❤
Family Photos
Thank you Jodi Nemeth Photography for a lovely family photo session on the farm! Here we are with our antique Allis Chalmers model G tractor.
Busy Season
So many good things are happening on the farm!
So many that it is hard to get a moment to catch our breath. But that is what winter is for, right?
We’re excited to be working with a multi-farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), chefs, florists, and other farmers this year to bring the best nutrient dense, non-GMO veggies, herbs and flowers to our community.
If you’d like to see more of the action check us out and like or follow us on Facebook and Instagram where we try to share a little bit of the beauty and bounty most days. We always appreciate your comments and feedback.
Preparing for the Season
It’s wintertime. Today it really LOOKS like wintertime. We have many inches of snow on the ground, which is a nice change since some of January and most of February felt like spring. We had temperatures in the 70s.
Those warm temperatures did allow us to do some winter sowing. We established 1400 square feet of pollinator demonstration plots in January. Now we wait until spring when the seeds will germinate. We do all we can to make sure bees are safe and welcome on our farm.
We’ve also been busy planning for the 2015 growing season; ordering seeds, plants and supplies; reading and learning; and thinking about ways to make things even better.
We’re so excited for the coming season. We’ve got some great things in store!
